Through a series of dynamic floor exercises, students use their own bodyweight to stretch, lengthen and strengthen both the joints and muscles across the entire body.
Primary emphasis is placed on developing the core muscles of the torso (the powerhouse) which span from the hips to the shoulders and include the inner thighs and buttocks. Students will also learn correct breathing techniques linked to the different movement patterns of the exercises.
Props like the magic circle, pilates ball, weighted bars, sit cushions and dynabands are often used in the lessons to help establish the right connections, aid strength and stability, or add an extra challenge to the workout.
A mat class typically comprises anywhere between 4 to 8 students. This small group setting allows the trainer to view each student clearly, ensuring accurate execution of the various exercises throughout the class.
Three levels of mat classes are available; Introduction/Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.
